Week of September 4 - 7
On Friday we learned about our new word of the month: Respect. We listened to Mr. Rakers read the story I Don't Care: Showing Respect. We talked about the ways the kids in the story did and didn't show respect, then we came up with a list of ways we could show respect at school. Here's what we came up with:
- Offer to help others
- Walk in the hallway
- Say things like "maybe next time" when we're disappointed not to win/get something/etc.
- Get a bandaid for someone who is hurt
- Work hard
- If you don't like someone's choice/opinion, keep it to yourself (i.e., nobody needs to know that you don't like their shoes or favorite color).
- Keep your food on your tray
- Stay quiet when the teacher talks
- Listen to the teacher
- Say "I'm sorry" if you hurt someone or make a bad choice.
- Say "Are you ok?" if someone is hurt.
- Say "Good game!" if someone else wins
- Tell your opponent "Good try!" if you are the winner.
